After Xiaomi’s mid-range market focusing strategy, it seems now every other company is following that. Among them, Asus comes on the top with its new smartphone Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. At the starting price of Rs. 12,999, it is the successor of the same brand’s Zenfone Max Pro M1 which was sold at Rs. 11,200. Asus is coming at very aggressive pricing with their recent launchings. Further, they bring the perfect and accurate features keeping price criteria in their head.
With Asus’s new product, Zenfone Max Pro M2, the company packs it with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, Gorilla Glass 6 for screen protection, 5000mAh high capacity battery, and low light AI camera. All of it, you get in one single phone- Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. It looks like this phone has ruled every other phone out from the mid-range competition. Is Asus the best phone in the mid-range department? Check out in the Zenfone Max Pro 2 review below:
Design and Display
Asus gives the device a plastic frame as every other phone gets in this price bracket. The power and volume buttons are on the right while the left frame packs the space for SIM tray. At the bottom, you will get USB port, microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a loudspeaker. The device gets curvy edges to get a firm grip and hold. Also, with the 5,000mAh battery, it doesn’t feel heavy or bulky.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro 2 gets a laminated plus glossy rear panel which easily differentiates it from the old device. Though the rear panel can catch the smudges easily, still it looks quite a nice device from the back.
The back gets a vertical dual camera setup with LED flash. Moreover, a fingerprint reader at the perfect place and under it stays ASUS logo.
The front of the device comes with notch and very thin bezels at both top and the sides. The notch only consists of a front camera, selfie flash and a couple of sensors. The earpiece goes outside of the notch which has made notch small. Also, the notification LED goes out of the notch and gets a place next to the earpiece.
Coming to the display, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 packs a 15.9cm (6.26-inches) FHD+ display with 2280 x 1080 resolution. The display has a notch on top which gives it an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 1500:1 contrast ratio for vibrant colors. The screen gets protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. As per Asus, it is the first device to pack the Gorilla 6 protection at this price point. You can choose to place order with available AliExpress Coupon Codes today to get best prices.
Overall, with the great build quality and vibrant display, Asus gets a thumbs up in design and display both.
Under the hood, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 packs a 1.95GHz Octa-Core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The chipset is paired with many RAM variants- 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB. Moreover, the device comes in 32GB and 64GB onboard storage variants which can be further expanded up to 2TB using microSD card.
Unlike its predecessor, this time Asus has brought a more powerful processor in play. Undoubtedly, the new Snapdragon 660 is far better than Snapdragon 636.
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 gets Adreno 512 GPU which some might argue is not cool looking the SoC they have offered. But, looking at the stock Android and software management, you can easily play light games. To run heavy games, you might have to lower down the graphics state- but it will work fine in the end.
Coming to the speakers, they are quite loud and produce clear output most of the times. Long put short, Asus’s new device is really powerful and gives the desired experience a user might expect from the device.
Camera and battery life
Coming to the camera, the back panel gets dual vertical cam setup including a Sony IMX486 12-megapixel primary camera with a 1.25micron pixel size and an f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera packs a 13-megapixel sensor with 1.12-micron pixel size and an f/2.0 aperture.
The quick toggles for clicking shots, bringing depth effect and the flash are really easy to use. Though there is no Auto HDR, but you can switch it on manually. The camera of the device doesn’t come out with the crisp exposure- old Asus problem. Moreover, low lighting shots are also average with not much-detailing experience. The front cam, on the other hand, captures some good shots. The facial recognition feature too does a good job in both unlocking and capturing group selfies.
The smartphone gets a high capacity 5,000mAh battery which can give you a day and a half on a typical usage easily. The device comes with 10W fast charging feature which can fuel the device with 3 hours of talk time on just 15 minutes charge.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a stock Android device which runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The device has used NXP SmartAmp technology for better audiovisual experience while you are watching videos, movies or surfing Youtube. The Zenmotion gestures also steal the show which let you wake the device or put it back to sleep with just double-tap. Also, a feature called Smart Screen On gets an entry- the feature prevents the device to go to standby when you are looking at it. In the box, you will get a Handset, USB Cable, 10W Adapter, User Manual, Warranty Card, Ejector Pin, and Clear Soft Case.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes in two color variants: Blue and Titanium. You can find it available to get online with best Tata Cliq Offers in India at discounted prices.
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is really a huge, grand and powerful upgrade to its predecessor, M1 model. With Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and massive 5,000mAh battery, the device is crack.
The performance and battery factor touches the sky in the price bracket whereas cameras deliver average performance. So if cameras are the priority, this device is not for you- straightaway. The device competes with Realme 2 Pro which has a better camera but it cannot beat Asus device in many aspects-performance, battery, and above that stock Android experience.
Starting at Rs. 12,999, Asus has played its cards right and unarguably, you can’t get a better phone than this at this price point. So, you get powerful chipset, huge battery life and stock Android experience in one device- Zenfone Pro Max M2.
